TO: Clients, Customers, Colleagues, Vendors, Contractors, Tenants, Residents & Friends

The Coronoviris (COVID-19) pandemic that all of us are living through at the moment, has caused a great deal of anxiety in our communities and the restrictions that have been imposed by all levels of government in order to interdict the spread of the virus have impacted the ability of most businesses in the United States and throughout the world to maintain operations and fulfill their existing contractual obligations. Many businesses are temporarily closed and many employees of these closed businesses have been laid off until this threat passes.

We are mindful of the effects that restrictions and quarantines are having, and we will do whatever we can to work with you. Many of you who work with or for our company, rent commercial spaces, offices or apartments, have had to stay home and are unable to conduct business as usual. For any businesses that have either been forced to close, curtail capacity or reduce the hours of operation, we ask that you stay in communication with us and let us know what assistance you may need or how we might help you. We will do our best to be of assistance to you and to help you find assistance that is being made available.

The situation is evolving daily, and it appears that the restrictions on hours of operation, school closings, and assembly will be with us from two to six weeks. If you are a resident who rents an apartment or home that our company manages, if you have lost your job or are temporarily out of work, please call our office and let us know. Any collections actions or evictions which may be pending, are suspended until the current crises passes. We are waiving all late payment penalties until further notice.

If you are a commercial tenant in any of our managed properties and you are having difficulty paying your monthly rent due to the current crises, please contact our office and we will assist you and we will work with you to get through the current crises and afterwards, to help your business recover.

In many leases there are "Force Majeure" provisions which excuse a party’s non-performance under a contract, when extraordinary events prevent a party from fulfilling it's contractual obligations. Your lease may require you to carry "Business Interruption Insurance" to pay your rent when an extraordinary event makes it necessary for you to close. At this point it is an unknown how government and insurance companies will treat prospective claims that are made. Regardless, we will work with you to get through the temporary challenges we are all dealing with.

We have been living in great times, in a great place, with abundant opportunities, and I believe we need to take advantage of this pause in the action, to take time to think about what we each can do better and to be mindful of the blessings we have in our lives - our families, our faith, our neighbors, our friends and our community. Keep well, and please let us know if there is anything that we might do for you.
